Free Vintage Crochet Edging Patterns Handkerchief Edging (lower L)

Materials Required: AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY “STAR” TATTING CROCHET, Article 125 1 ball each Nile Green, Yellow and White or colors of your choice Steel crochet hook No.13
1 Handkerchief

With Nile Green work a row of sc around entire handkerchief working 3 sc in each corner, cut Nile Green.

2nd Round. Attach White in 1st sc of any corner, ch 5, skip center sc, sc in next sc (corner loop), * ch 5, skip about 1/8 inch space, sc in next sc, repeat from * all around working all corner loops same as 1st corner loop ending with ch 2, dc in same space as beginning. This brings thread in position for next round. There should be a multiple of 3 plus 1 loops between corner loops.

4722 Handkerchief Edging (lower R)

Materials Required: AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY “STAR” TATTING CROCHET, Article 125 1 ball Tinted Pinks and Yellows or color of your choice, Steel crochet hook No.13,1 Handkerchief

Attach thread in corner and work a double knot stitch (double knot st: * draw up a ¼ inch loop on hook, thread over hook and pull through loop forming a ch st, sc over single loop of st, repeat from * once), sc in same space on the handkerchief, * work a double knot st, skip about % inch space, sc in next space, repeat from * all around working all corners same as the 1st corner, join in same
space.

2nd Row: Sl st to the center of corner double knot st, work a double knot st, sc in same space, * double knot st, sc in center of next double knot st, repeat from * all around working all corners same as 1st corner, join.

3rd Row: Sl st to center of corner double knot st, * ch 4, keeping last loop of each dc on hook, 2 dc in 4th st from hook, thread over and work off all loops at one time, repeat from * once (a double rice st made), sc in center of next double knot st, repeat from 1st * all round, join.

4th Row: Sl st to center of 1st double rice st, * ch 4, keeping last loop of each dc on hook, 2 dc in 4th st from hook, thread over and work off all loops at one time, ch 4, sl st in top of rice st just made for picot, ch 4, keeping last loop of each dc on hook, 2 dc in 4th st from hook, thread over and work off all loops at one time, sc in center of next double rice st, repeat from * all around, join, cut thread.
