Introducing the Four Seasons Knitted Coat Pattern Knit up this Four Seasons Knitted Coat Pattern in two bright vibrant colors for any time of the year. The featured vintage coat pattern is by Bear Brand from the Spring and Summer Vogue Knitting 1952, a collection of knitting and crochet patterns for the active woman or women who love to create a classic vintage wardrobe. This is clearly, the dynamic element in color block outerwear. Your coat is knitted in a single seed stitch using 10 1/2″ knitting needles shown in the original vintage Capri blue and Flamingo red. Sizes: Directions are for size 12. changes for sizes 14 and 16 are in parenthesis. Materials: Botany Jiffy, 15 (17-19) skeins of Flamingo red 10 (11-12) skeins of Capri Blue Number 10.5 knitting needles. Crochet hook Size G 3 Buttons two-inches across 1/2 yard red grosgrain ribbon 1″ wide Gauge: 3 1/2 sts = 1″ | 6 rows = 1″ Four Seasons Vintage Knitted Coat Pattern   2″ above the pocket, ending at front edge. BUTTONHOLE: Work 3 sts, bind off next 2 sts, sl the last st from right-hand needle to left-hand needle and k 2 tog. finish row. On the next row, cast on 3 sts over buttonhole. Making 2 more buttonholes evenly spaced, so that the top one will be about 4 rows below neck shaping, complete to correspond with left front in reversed shaping. SLEEVES: With Flamingo, cast on 51 (53-55) sts. Work even in seed st for 7″, Inc 1 st at each edge on the next row, then every 6th row 5 times more [63 (65-67) sts]. Mark both ends of last row for beg of underarms. Work even for 4″ (4 1/2″-4 1/2″). Bind off. COLLAR: With Flamingo, cast on 85 (87-89) sts. Work in seed sts for 5″. Next row: Work 12 sts in seed st, *k 2 tog: repeat from * to last 13 sts, work 13 sts in seed st [55 (56-57) sts]. Bind off on wrong side, knitting the sts. FINISHING: Sew shoulder seams. fitting tops of sleeves, beyond markers, into corners of underarms, sew sleeves to armholes. Next sew side and sleeve seams. The pocket lining is sewn in place on wrong side. Using matching yarn and working from right side, work 1-row sc up right front edge to neck, make 2 sc in corner; work sc around neck, holding it in to fit, make 2 sc in corner, sc to lower edge. Fasten off. With Flamingo, working from right side, work 1-row sc around back and cast-on edge of collar, making 2 sc in each corner. Fasten off. Sew bound-off edge of collar about 2″ from each front edge. Block. Reinforce shoulder seams and back of neck with grosgrain ribbon. Sew buttons.
