Vintage Macramé Hanging Planter — Cactus Garden
Decorative Macramé — The Knotted Interior • Edition 05: Nature
This vintage macramé hanging planter is more than a sling around a flowerpot. Cactus Garden suspends a 14-inch saucer inside a sequence of rings, creating a miniature landscape with its own open architectural frame.

Modern Maker’s Notes
The ring sequence is the framework. The edition explains how to keep the cage concentric, test the saucer before final trimming and choose a cord with enough body to preserve the open shape. The vessel itself is part of the geometry, so changing its diameter changes the relationship between every surrounding ring.
Then and Now
The original miniature cactus landscape can return as a restrained plant display, succulent garden or non-plant decorative vessel. Keeping the contents visually low allows the ring structure and negative space to remain part of the design.
Modern suspension note: A planted saucer can become much heavier after watering. Choose corrosion-resistant, load-appropriate hardware and size the suspension system for the heaviest realistic wet condition, not the empty display.
