- Finished size: 19 in. diameter × 22 in. long
- 418 yards of No. 72 twisted polypropylene cord, approximately 4–5 mm
- Paired rings in descending 19-, 15-, 12- and 7-inch diameters plus 5-inch rings
- Open and dense knotwork arranged in four tiers
- Original vintage lighting-hardware instructions preserved for historical reference
Modern Maker’s Notes
The tiered profile depends on keeping every ring centered and level. The editorial pages discuss matching cord diameter and stiffness, testing transparency against the intended light source, preserving negative space and planning any diffuser deliberately.
Then and Now
The original warm-toned lamp can be reinterpreted in natural cotton, black, rust or another restrained color while preserving its descending-ring geometry. Changing color is easy; changing the ring proportions changes the design itself.
