Home & Decor Vintage Favorites — Volume I
Fourteen restored pattern sources. One home full of handwork. This 99-page Dazespast collection begins with table lace and crochet motifs. Next come knitted and crocheted afghans, a bedspread and bathroom crochet. Finally, 1970s macramé brings handmade style to furniture, windows and lighting.

Each chapter begins with an image from the exact vintage source. Then a short Dazespast introduction and a detailed Modern Maker’s Note add useful context. After that, the restored original instructions follow unchanged.

4. Peacock Parade
Filet crochet · pictorial mesh
An ambitious peacock tablecloth using open and filled mesh to create a large decorative image.

7. Whirly Pilot & Wheel Motifs

8. Classic Knitted Plaid Afghan

A sculptural hanging table/luminary approximately 4 feet long, with source variations both with and without light.

13. Queen Anne’s Macramé Curtain

Graphic diamonds, negative space, and the fringe create a dramatic curtain, doorway treatment, or room-divider textile.

14. 1970s Hanging Macramé Pagoda Lamp
Macramé · suspended lamp construction
Tiered frames, structural rings, 400 yards of 4–6 mm cord and a long tassel create an architectural 1970s hanging light.
From Heirloom Linen to Architectural Decor
The collection starts with classic vintage crochet: tablecloths, doilies, filet work and medallions. Next, knitted plaid, Tunisian crochet, an embroidered afghan, a bedspread and a bathroom set move into soft furnishings. Finally, the macramé chapters use knots to create tables, curtains and lighting.
Source-First Pattern Integrity
The restored archival pages are the authority for stitch counts, charts, diagrams, material quantities and original assembly. Dazespast editorial pages are intentionally separate from the source instructions.
Modern Maker’s Notes
Each source includes practical guidance for today’s maker. The notes cover materials, yarn or thread behavior, gauge, weight, blocking, joining, support and finishing. In addition, large projects need careful swatching. Small changes in gauge can grow across hundreds of motifs, a large afghan or a hanging macramé piece.
For Lace & Motifs
Make and block complete motifs before calculating quantities. For joined designs, swatch several units together so you can evaluate the joins, not only the individual medallion.
For Afghans & Bedspreads
Test charted colorwork, Tunisian fabric, embroidery and repeated motifs at useful scale. Watch for skewing, curl, puckering and finished weight before committing to an heirloom-size project.
For Macramé
Substitute cord by diameter and knot behavior, not color alone. Hang a full repeat before final cutting, and size dowels, rings, supports and hanging hardware for the completed weight. Lighting projects require modern electrical components and safe installation.
Motifs Beyond the Home — Editorial Inspiration
Some chapters also show how verified vintage motifs can inspire modern clothing. These are design ideas, not garment patterns included in the source PDFs. Therefore, makers who adapt a home motif for clothing must create the garment shape and fit separately while keeping the original motif design intact.
