I am building a vintage 1900 PDF eBook pattern library from my personal collection of paid and free patterns & tutorials of Fashion and Home Decor Vintage Printable PDF ePatterns.

These were originally published from the Edwardian era 1900 until about 1910. Queen Alexandra of England who was the leader of fashion of her time. She is however credited with the jewelry style known as the high dog pearl collar held in place by diamond bars.

One tidbit of lore to remember at the beginning of this era a woman’s corset maker was as important or maybe even more, important than her dressmaker.

Here are a few of my favorite designers from the time.

During the teens, the vertical line became a more natural silhouette emerged, Paul Poiret is noted for designs featuring less constricting styles of the Edwardian era.   ushered in a theme of simplicity in styles liked by so many women today.

During this period, hemlines rose, and the V-neckline became popular

Around 1910, Leon Bakst introduced oriental-inspired styles they had a profound impact on haute couture.

Other notable designers of the time were, Elsa Schiaparelli her work and sense of style shaped the look of fashion in the 1920s and ’30s, and her clothes were worn by some of the world’s most famous women, including American actress Greta Garbo.

Let’s not forget Coco Chanel she opened her first clothes shop in 1910. In the 1920s, she launched her first perfume and eventually introduced the Chanel suit and the little black dress, with an emphasis on making clothes that were more comfortable for women.
