Lily Mills sponsored the Lily Mills Women’s Knitting Club.The group traveled to the World’s Fair in New York City in 1964 and then to Montreal for EXPO in 1967.
Lily Mills was also a longtime supplier and supporter of the famous Penland Craft School in North Carolina. Lily Mills gave $20,000 which covered half the cost of the Lily Loom House, the Lily Loom House is still a feature of the school to this day
The Belding Heminway Company and Lily Mills Company merged in 1960, their combined holding included manufacturing activities in Grosvenordale and Putnam Connecticut, Hendersonville and Shelby North Carolina, Kulpmont Pennsylvania, Morristown Tennessee and Bedford and Emporia Virginia.
